Water Operator
Town of Brewster
The Town of Brewster seeks qualified candidates for the position of a Licensed Water Operator. This position is responsible for inspections, maintenance, and operation of the Town’s water systems, including well sites, lime stations, and treatment facilities. The Town of Brewster seeks qualified candidates for the position of Licensed Water Operator.
This position is responsible for inspections, maintenance, and operation of the Town’s water systems, including well sites, lime stations, and treatment facilities.
Under the direction of the Water Department Foreman the Water Operator will assist with the inspection, maintenance, and operation of the Town’s water systems. Performs water sampling in compliance with State and Federal regulations; prepares daily logs of pumping activities and prepares reports of findings. Implements hydrant flushing and gate exercise programs; perform hydrant maintenance and repairs. Performs or supervises pressure testing and disinfection. Responds to alarms and issues at treatment facilities, diagnose and repair issues; serves as essential personnel for department requiring work during emergencies. Participants in rotating weekend duty inspecting facilities to ensure proper working order.
Requirements:
High School diploma required, associates degree preferred with a minimum of five years’ experience in the public water supply field, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Drinking Water License Distribution Level 3, Treatment Level 2, and Cross Connection Survey Test license required.
Class B commercial driver’s license and 2A hoisting license required.
Details:
This is a full-time 40 hour a week position covered under the Town’s Service Employees Internation Union, with a pay range of $33.72 - $41.47 per hour, starting pay dependent on licenses, qualifications, and experience.
