Research Assistant I, PT - Temporary
Marine Biological Laboratory - Woods Hole
The Morgan lab seeks a highly motivated individual to join The Eugene Bell Center for Regenerative Biology and Tissue Engineering as a part-time, temporary Research Assistant I for 20-30 hours per week. The successful candidate will provide general laboratory support and will also work on the neurobiology of Parkinson’s disease and spinal cord regeneration mechanisms.
Additional Information:
Major responsibilities include: animal care for sea lampreys, assisting with core lab and administrative tasks, as well as supporting or conducting research. Position will be for 4-5 months, but may be extended beyond this period contingent upon funding.
Basic Qualifications:
Applicants should have an undergraduate degree (B.S. or B.A.), as well as coursework in the biological or physical sciences in subject areas such as Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Chemistry, Neuroscience, Physics, or other related topics. Must have strong analytical and computer skills. Must know standard laboratory practices and be familiar with general laboratory equipment. Must be able to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have experience with microdissections, imaging, statistics, image analysis software, coding, or some combination. Prior experience working with fish or other aquatic species is also desirable.
Physical Requirements:
Minimal exposure to biohazardous chemicals. Occasional lifting of heavy objects (<30 pounds).
