Estuary Education Leadership Internship

Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve

The Estuary Education Leadership (EEL) Internship is designed for high school students entering their Junior or Senior year of high school who have an interest in science or nature. Interns will receive mentorship from Reserve staff, fostering their interest in science through hands-on learning opportunities and leadership development.

Duties and Experiences:

  • Assist with public environmental education programs and group visits.
  • Assist with a pilot program growing salt marsh grasses.
  • Partner with interpretive staff on Piping plover and Osprey education.
  • Take part in research opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Students entering 11th or 12th grade.
  • Ability to demonstrates reliability, creativity, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Experience and/or interest in science, nature, stewardship, and outdoor activities.

Hours and Compensation:

  • The EEL Internship is a paid 8-week program beginning in July through August.
  • Interns will work two days per week (15 hours) and earn $15/hour for a total stipend of $1,800.
