Water Quality Laboratory - Barnstable County
Join the Barnstable County Department of Health and Environment as the Assistant Bacteriologist. The Barnstable County Water Quality Laboratory provides analytical services both directly to the public and to the municipalities on Cape Cod, and is certified to test drinking water, bathing beaches, groundwater and wastewater. The Assistant Bacteriologist will work under the general direction of the Bacteriologist and will assist bacteriological analysis of public and private samples from various water sources. Part-time position.
Description: Prepare media buffers and reagents; maintain quality control of analyses. Assist with the seasonal bathing-beach water quality monitoring program. Enter data into computer software and post on the Department’s website. Calculate and report sample results; maintain data logbook and inventory.
Position qualifications: Bachelor degree with a minimum of eight college credits in biology (four college credits in microbiology preferred); up to five years of laboratory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Annual Salary: $35.30 - $38.58 per hour
