Skilled technical work in the operation and maintenance of the municipal wastewater treatment plant and collection system; all other duties as assigned.

High school diploma and at least three years experience in municipal wastewater operations; or advanced technical training in plant operations or a related field and one year of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Massachusetts Class D drivers license required.
A current grade 6 Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators certificate required.
Current Massachusetts Class 1-B Hoisting License.
Current Massachusetts Class 2-B Excavating License.
Current Massachusetts Class 3-A Electric and Air License.
Certificate in CPR and First Aid administration preferred.
Knowledge of the principles and operating procedures of wastewater treatment plants and sanitary sewer systems. Knowledge of chemical impacts and reactions for a variety of chemicals associated with wastewater collection and treatment. Working knowledge of the materials, methods and techniques of wastewater treatment, and of state and federal pollution control regulations.
Ability to take samples and perform routine laboratory tests. Ability to maintain and repair the machinery and equipment of wastewater treatment operations. Ability to perform heavy physical labor under adverse conditions.
Good mathematical skills needed to compute ratios and monitor chemical levels; basic computer skills preferred.
