Aquacultural Research Corporation - A.R.C. - plays a vital role in local and regional shellfish communities by providing the highest quality shellfish– from spawn to table – to growers, distributors, chefs and reef-builders across the country.
We are seeking an intern to work in the hatchery. Hatchery interns will be trained in routine aquaculture techniques to care for oyster and clam larvae and juveniles. These include larval tank maintenance, feeding animals, downweller maintenance, broodstock system maintenance, basic water quality and filtration systems, and assist with spawning oysters and clams. Interns will also learn basic algal culture and seed grow out methods.
These are unpaid internships.
Hatchery Interns must be able to communicate well, work effectively in a team, be comfortable working in a wet and warm environment, scrub and clean tanks and equipment, be able to lift 50 pounds, and provide their own transportation.
This opportunity is open to recent college graduates, or students currently enrolled in an accredited college or university. Preference will be given to students studying marine science/biology, environmental science, biology, or another related field.
Must possess U.S Citizenship or be a “U.S. person”
Must have access to local housing option on Cape Cod
